The GlucoStories contest ended a few weeks ago and American Diabetes Wholesale, Charlie Kimball, winner Brian Harris and his son and the contest partners and sponsors all celebrated at the Firestone® Indy Lights Championship race in Homestead, Florida. We are thankful to everyone that participated in the original contest and helped make it such an overwhelming success!

Based on the fantastic reaction we received from the original Share Your Story Contest, we have re-launched the GlucoStories website with new features, and best of all – new submissions are being accepted. This time around though, your story about diabetes will not only inspire the GlucoStories community but also help out a diabetes charity of your choice as American Diabetes Wholesale will donate $3.00 for every published story! The organizations include:

• American Diabetes Association – South Florida
• Diabetic Rockstar
• JDRF – Greater Palm Beach County
• Defeat Diabetes Foundation

It’s simple to participate, just register for a FREE account, write your inspirational story about how diabetes has affected you, a relative, a friend or anyone else, decide which charity you want ADW to donate to and submit!

Let’s unite and share inspirational diabetes stories during Diabetes Awareness Month in November, and help raise money for a worthy cause! Our goal is to raise $3,000 and have at least 1,000 stories on GlucoStories.com!

Our newsletter this week features an article by diabetes educator Marci Sloane about the importance of maintaining the health of your heart, especially if you are diabetic. Marci gives a brief yet informative overview of how to get your heart healthy including: nutrition tips, stress reduction, important testing routines and more! Check out her article, “Love Your Heart” for more information.

This past Saturday, March 29, 2008, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation held their annual walk in Boca Raton, FL in Mizner Park. There were approximately 3,000 people who showed up. The amount of awareness and money raised for such a great organization is amazing and exciting. American Diabetes Wholesale is proud to support the JDRF in ways such as this. It is now time for JDRF to start planning and organizing the next walk.

The weather had been forecasted to be rainy and thunderstorms, but it could not have turned out to be any more perfect of a day. The sun was out with a few clouds, and a nice little breeze every now and again. The two mile walk turned out to be successful. Approximately 8-10 ADW team members walked with family and friends.

The performances by local high school cheerleaders, bands, and singers were all outstanding. It created a great environment for a great cause.
