Got a sweet tooth but need to watch your sugar intake? You’re not alone! In this week’s American Diabetes Wholesale Newsletter, Registered Dietician Marlene Koch gives us some healthy options for baking with less sugar and sugar substitutes.
“In recipes where sugar’s primary role is simply to sweeten, such as a cheesecake or mousse, swapping out most, or even all of the sugar, with a sugar substitute is not usually a problem… make sure that the amount of sugar substitute you use is equal to the amount of sweetness provided by the sugar called for in the recipe…”
Marlene goes on to give some great tips and tricks for reducing the amount of sugar while baking and how to better utilize sugar substitutes so you can hit that “sweet spot” between sugar reduction and great taste. Marlene has proven to us that you can “have your cake and eat it too!”

Hello everyone! Another week has gone by, and that means that American Diabetes Wholesale has a new edition of our informative newsletter!
This issue’s main story covers something that many people use in their diets, whether they have diabetes or not – sugar substitutes. Naturally, however, this topic is a major concern to diabetics, and the article “Sugar Substitutes” covers the different types of artificial sweeteners such as saccharine, sucralose, and aspartame.
American Diabetes Wholesale’s Product Spotlight goes in tangent with the main article, and covers our Sugar Substitutes category of diabetic products. We carry many different types of artificial sweeteners, which can be used for baking, a tasty drink mix, or just to sweeten up a cup of tea or coffee in the morning. Check out a few of our selections from DiabetiSweet Original Sugar Substitute to EZ-Sweetz Liquid Sucralose Sweetener to our new Stevita Spoonable Stevia Sweetener.
This week’s recipe is one for those who love to cook – Angela Tustin’s Smoked Duck and Candied Ginger Salad. It requires a bit more prep and cooking time compared to some of our earlier featured recipes, but the results will knock your socks off!
Have you signed up for the newsletter yet? If not, you are missing out on all of the great information and occasional savings! Sign up for American Diabetes Wholesale’s Newsletter today!
