Bowling and Blogging Monday 7

July 31st, 2008 by Chris S

What a weekend!  I spent all day yesterday cleaning up the apartment because my family is coming to visit this Friday.  Thank goodness its Bowling and Blogging Monday!  Friday night I went out to dinner with my girlfriend and then did nothing at all.  Same thing Saturday, what a fun, fun weekend.  I watched a National Lampoon’s movie on Saturday about a national grocery bagging competition, it was funny at times, but also boring at others.

There is only 3 more weeks of bowling left.  Last week, we bowled bad again, and we had a chance to move up to 4-5 place, and then we could have taken down the top teams, but tonight we definetly have our work cut out for us.  The sugar levels have been lower then the bowling scores, which is great because I haven’t been bowling that well in this league.

Thanks to those who gave me feedback about the A1C kits and the magazines that they like.

I Almost Forgot How to Blog

July 24th, 2008 by Chris S

It has been so long since the last time I posted, I almost forgot how to do it.  Plus my computer is running a little funky on me today, so my font is really messed up and I don’t know why.  Things have been crazy lately, which is why I haven’t posted in a while.

First, let me start with a good story.  This past Friday night I was out with my girlfriend, her brother and his girlfriend and we were at a local bar in south Florida and we saw this guy sitting at the bar and I said, “Man, he looks just like that Adam guy who won Big Brother.”  Next thing you know, he turns around, and guess who, it was him!  She wanted a picture with him so bad, but I didn’t want to be a groupie so I didn’t ask, but her brother talked to him for a while, and he was really cool and he comes out to that bar all the time, so we will see him again.

Then on Saturday we went to the Marlins and Phillies game.  We were right at the right-center fence, literally, the first row.  We  caught about 4-5 balls during batting practice and then throughout the game, got a couple of balls from the players.  Finally today I have nothing to do after work, I can go home and relax.

I have everything completed that I need to do for my new apartment, I just have to wait on the HOA and get things rolling with that.  I can’t wait to get out of the place that I am in now.  Crime central is what the complex should be called.  Well, now that I just started to remember what blogging is all about, I have to end this post.  Catch  you all tomorrow!

Ignorance is Bliss

July 24th, 2008 by Chris S

Lack of diabetes knowledge, thats what I want to talk about today.  There are a lot of people that don’t know what diabetes is, they heard of it, but don’t know what it means.  With there being more people with diabetes then just about any other disease, you would think people would have more knowledge about it, unfortunately they don’t.  For instance, when speaking to somebody yesterday i said I was diabetic and they replied back with, “Oh, I’m sorry to hear.”  So I replied back like any normal diabetic would, “Sorry?  Sorry for what?  Theres nothing to be sorry about, I can manage my diabetes, it doesn’t control my life.”

Also, I went to an ADA kick-off breakfast this morning and I always leave these type of events, extremely motivated to start testing more often.  Which also makes me think about the hard work these people do to spread awareness, and the ignorance of people who just don’t care.  I am coming up on my next A1C test, I have to get it done before my insurance runs out.  Is there anybody out there who has to pay for this testing out of pocket, how much does it run usually?

Also, I would like some feedback from my…. very few readers.  I come in every morning and have about 20-30 comments, but they are all spam.  I would like to have some more interesting material that people would want to comment on and make my blog a little better.  I am still some what new to the blogging, well I’ve been around for a year now.

Finally, it’s coming around the end of the subscription of one of my magazines and I want to start getting some more diabetes related ones, any suggestions from any of you?

Insurance and Bowling Battles!

July 17th, 2008 by Chris S

First, thank you for those that left me messages in regards to my insurance issues. I guess I am in for a long fight to try to survive. I guess all I really need is to have them cover doctors visits because luckily I have access to supplies, theres a reason this company’s logo is on my blog, they are keeping me alive! I have some other things that I need to take care of that are more immediate then the insurance, so I will keep you all updated when I get back that battle.

On a better note, we kicked butt last night in the bowling league. We took all 7 points. We were bowling against the team that I hated the most so I was so glad that we took all 7. We were in dead last 2 weeks ago, and we said we were going to make the greatest come back on bowling league history, and we have moved up 13 spots in 2 weeks to 11th place.

My parents will be coming down here for my graduation in about 2 1/2 weeks. So, I will have the whole week off of work and be able to spend some good time with mom, dad, brother, and sister-in-law. I still haven’t really said that too much, even though they have been married since November. I don’t really get a chance to talk to either one of them since I live in Florida now and they are still in PA. I talked to one of my best friends from high school the other day, and I said I will keep in touch more often because I really do miss talking to all the guys and the rest of my family. I need to dedicate one day to call all of them.

Well, I need to get back to work for a little.
