So, I told you all that Sunday night my infusion set was leaking. After I changed it, I woke up and it was still a little high. I used one of my insulin pens for an emergency. The next day I woke up and my sugar was a little better because of the insulin pen. So after I switched the infusion set I thought everything was fine, until yesterday morning. I ate breakfast and then tested about an hour later, 350! Ok, by this point I’m getting pissed because my sugars have been so high lately. I pull out my pump to correct and I look at the cannula. There is a nice little tear at the end of the cannula where the insulin is just dripping out of and not even make it into my body.
This is the second one within a month. Is it something I am doing wrong? I don’t know, but I guess that is the other thing I should check when my sugar gets high now too. Anyway, on a higher note, I just gave my hour long presentation yesterday for an entreprenuer seminar. I think I did a decent job, and received good ratings. Hopefully, the investors will like. By the way, the idea is for an indoor snowboarding facility in Orlando, FL. Would you go?

Last night I was having a high blood sugar experiment. It had went up to around 400. Whenever I have one like that I feel around my infusion set to see if it is moist and then smell for insulin. Usually if I smell insulin, my infusion set is leaking or not working correctly, and that was the case last night. So I put in a new one, and then this morning I woke up at around 500.
I quickly corrected and then tested again at work and was down to about 300 an hour later. I checked again around noon and it was down to 180. It’s getting better, but then I realize I just used my last testing strip. So now I’m just going to have to wait until I get out of work, get home quickly so I can stop home and then get more strips before I go to class.
I was very stressed yesterday because I was trying to complete all of my work, but I don’t think that had to do with the high numbers. I made homemade mac and cheese and if the insulin had just leaked out, then that is the perfect explanation of it. Good thing I was home and had a chance to change it!

So it’s Friday once again. The weekend is almost here, and bowling tonight. As I said yesterday we got beat last week, only 2 out of 3 games, but that’s still too much. I think we are still in first, if not we probably dropped only to second. My goal for tonight is to bring my average above 150. As bad as this sounds, I just want to bowl a higher score than my blood sugar levels.
I forget half the time to test during the 3 hours that I am there bowling, drinking, and eating. Last week I didn’t have any chips, but instead had boneless buffalo wings, which were amazing. I overestimated the carbs and took too much insulin and then the run to the candy machine for Skittles followed. To add to it, it was my turn to bowl, and I threw a strike even with a low blood sugar.
It’s going to be stressful tonight while bowling because I have to be doing homework along with bowling, so no drinking tonight, and who knows what I am going to eat, hopefully something good.
One last thing, hopefully some of you will give me feedback on. I don’t eat fish, I know I need to, I eat a lot of canned tuna fish which does contain Omega 3, but this isn’t good enough, any suggestions on a good fish, that well, doesn’t taste like fish?

Well last night I had another test, so I only have more exam to take, but the million more tests to go I am speaking of is on my fingers of course. So that’s a million more test strips that will somehow appear all over my house even though I swore I threw them away. Am I the only one that everytime you clean up a certain area of the house you find more used test strips laying there. I wish finding money was that easy too.
Anyway, there was a birthday at work today and an ice cream cake was brought in, which I can not turn down, so I just had a small part. I only ate the bottom half, you know the half with the chocolate and those little chocolate crusty things, mmm best part of it.
Thursday night is also usually chinese food night with my girlfriend before class, but not tonight because we already went on Monday night instead. I’m excited about bowling tomorrow night, we got our butts whipped last week. We just weren’t on, but more on that tomorrow with my bowling and blogging Friday’s!

I have been trying so hard to cut back on my coffee intake, but I am realizing I can’t live without coffee. I have heard so many different things about coffee and diabetes over the last 4 years, so I decided to do my own research on how coffee affected my own body and not everybody else’s. I found that it did not do anything abnormal to my blood sugars.
However, over the last couple of weeks there has been more news about coffee being bad, so I decided to take a break from it. Let me explain the week I have in front of me and you’ll see why I can’t live without coffee. Keep in my everything I am about to say is in addition to working 40 hours a week.
Work from 9-5, class from 7-10. Test on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. 10 page paper (not started) due Sunday night. 6 page (not started) paper due Monday night. 1 hour presentation along with full detailed 20 page business plan due Tuesday. 2 page along with 10 minute presentation due next Wednesday. Now all this work I am supposed to do between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. But what about that thing called sleep, aren’t I supposed to be doing that also?
All this and I am trying to do it without coffee, I can’t do it anymore. It would be nice to be able to enjoy a weekend, but not this one for sure. And I am sure it will be 90 degrees, no clouds, perfect beach day both days this weekend, while I am sitting inside doing homework.

Well, for those of you who read the title of today’s post probably know that I don’t like Valentine’s Day, or Boost the Economy Day as I call it. No, I am not bitter, single, and broken hearted, I am deeply in love with my girlfriend of over 2 years, but I just don’t like the concept. Then you add this whole diabetes thing into my life, and I hate it even more. So maybe I am bitter this year. I just got over the flu, well not fully over it yet, so the smell of the chocolate and chocolate chip cookie cake aromas going through my office right now is making me sick to my stomach again.
To all the love birds out there helping boost the economy by buying flowers and chocolates from all the small mom and pop stores, good job keep it up!
I can’t even celebrate it today even if I wanted to. I work and then have to go to an advanced managerial finance class. I swear, trying to figure out what my blood sugar numbers mean is a heck of a lot easier than all these numbers going on in this finance class.
By the way, I cut coffee out of my life, so sorry if I sound grumpy, its 9:30 a.m. with NO coffee!

What a great weekend I had, (sarcasm). Sunday night I started to feel a little sick, stomach ache here and there. Monday morning I woke up with the worst stomach ache and had to call off of work. Checked my sugar to make sure I was in a good range and I was about 210. Throughout the day, I was very weak and didn’t have much energy to do anything but lay around. Well, by Monday night I was throwing up and had no appetite for anything.
At around midnight, I was very scared, I was sweating, cold, shivering, shaking, my heart was pounding and I couldn’t breathe easily. After that, the vomitting stopped, and I just had a little stomach pains here and there, but that is when I think it all left my system. It was unlike any flu I have ever had. The highest my sugar went was about 300, but I quickly corrected that.
Today, about an hour ago is the first meal that I have ate since Sunday, so let’s hope tomorrow when I post, I’m not telling you about how I was sick AGAIN. Being sick is the worst thing in the world. Especially when you live alone, and live 1,000 miles from your nearest family member. And to add to that, it was storming bad here in south Florida, so I did not want my girlfriend driving 10 miles to my place.

I haven’t blogged back to back days in a couple months. It feels good to have a few free seconds throughout the day to try and post something. I just wish interesting things were happening in my life. I have started a bowling league, which is intense. I never thought I would be so competitive in a bowling league. I’m like Al Bundy out there. I’m not the best of bowlers, 140 average, but I’m not the worst either. But, that average doesn’t speak for the great games I throw. My first game average is around 165-170, but the second is around 110-120 or so.
However, I do not test my sugar during the 3 hours that I am there bowling though. I am eating chips and dip, and drinking beer, but am not testing. I try to test right before and right after. Most importantly though, I do not test on my right hand at all during the day because I do not want to screw up my throwing.
I am trying to catch up on everybody’s old blog post, I feel so far out of the community again. I will not disappoint anybody who used to read my blog anymore.

Good thing I test my blood sugar more often than I have posted on my blog. I have been a little set off by a couple things that has forced me not to be able to blog as frequently, but I know I’ve said this before, I am back for good this time. I will blog everyday for the rest of the month, I can guruantee it.
Things have been going good with my sugar levels. I had one day where I somewhere went up to about 450, and it took me a long time to cure it. I didn’t eat anything else, but took a lot of insulin, but it was still taking forever, but then I was starving and had to eat, so I took even more insulin. And, of course, my sugars went lower than the video girls in Flo-Rida’s video.
Other than that things have been good. School and work is hectic. I’m back to 13 hour work/school days again, and studying and doing homework on Fridays and Saturday’s.
