The JDRF walk this past Saturday was great. There were so many people there, probably close to about 3,000. With the minimum donation being about $100, that had to be a great outcome. Now it’s time to start collecting for the ADA walks later this year. I’ll be holding some local fundraisers for different events in the area, so if you live in the south Florida region, keep up with the posts because there may be things you want to help out with.
I’ve been controlling my eating habits the past couple of days, and my sugars have been more stable. I am trying hard to fight the hunger problems. Yogurt has been the most frequented food, and yogurt smoothies. I played tennis the other day for about 10 minutes because I caught up with my girlfriend and her mom when they were just finishing and tired out.
A1C test is next week, hopefully it turns out well as well as the JDRF walk did!

I just have one question, how do you all find time to blog everyday? I know I’m not the only one who is extremely busy and doesn’t even have time to eat some days, but how do you manage to do it. I try to because it does calm the nerves and relieves the stress in the middle of the day. I’ve been a little worried about my blood sugar levels throughout the night because I just keep waking up with like 300 levels. I have tried so many damn things. Eating Taco Bell last night I know didn’t help.
Also, yesterday I was so busy at work that I totally forgot to eat lunch. I ate at 8:30, testing throughout the day. At about noon my level was 123, and then I didn’t test again until about 5, and without eating all day, my sugar went up to 230. I don’t know why my sugar goes up when I don’t eat, I always expect it to go the opposite way.
Our local JDRF walk is coming up this Saturday. It’s at the beautiful Mizner Park in Boca Raton, FL. If you’re in the area, please come out and join us, it should be fun! Please, you can support the fight for the cure!

I came across this little article this morning that talks about a pizzaria in Tacoma, WA that makes a whole wheat pizza dough. I know there are other places out there that must do the same thing, I just have not heard of any yet.
The pizza was inspired by a young kid who wanted to know if there was anything in the pizza place to eat, but unfortunately there was not. So the owner created this pizza for him. This is such a wonderful story of a local small business owner doing what he can to help the fight against Diabetes.
There needs to be more action taken like this. The more people who pick up against the fight the better off the whole world will be. The diabetes epidemic is starting to get out of control, and the publicity is not at the level that it needs to be at. I respect breast cancer, and Aids, and malnutrition, but Diabetes is not as well known, and it should be.
I give thanks to all of the fellow d-bloggers who give all of us a voice in the world, and together we will all make a difference in the world of Diabetes

Happy World Diabetes Day everybody. It feels good to have a day that I am actually part of. It is great to honor our veterans on Veterans day and Memorial day, but it’s great to spread the word about Diabetes too.
It is an accomplishment to have this day, but there still needs to be more. If Diabetes could get half the attention and publicity that breast cancer receives, we could educate so many more people and possibly prevent the diagnosis of so many more Diabetics.
But enough about that, today for me is to celebrate my Diabetes. I am proud to be a diabetic, its part of who I am. It has made me stronger, responsible, mentally tough, and mature well beyond my years. Yes, my life has changed since the day I was diagnosed, but this is for sure, I control my Diabetes, it doesn’t control me.
So for all of you who are trying to spread the word of Diabetes, its complications, preventions, fundraising, dieting, whatever it is you are doing on your World Diabetes Day, I thank you.

I am back to blogging and I promise I will be posting again at least three times a week. I am going to try to get it up five times a week, but three I will guruantee. My life has been so hectice lately, I really have not had anytime to sit down and blog. My diabetes has been under pretty good control lately, I have been satisfied with my numbers. I am waiting for my A1C number to see if I will be satisfied with that number also.
I am taking 5 different classes and working also, which does not really leave me too much time to be looking online at blogs, but I am trying. I’ve also been really busy trying to collect money for the ADA walk coming up on October 27. It is important to me to raise funds for the Step Out to Fight Diabetes campaign. There are three local walks within three consectutive weeks, but unfortunately, I can only attend one.
I’m still trying to lose some weight for my brother’s wedding in November, but that hasn’t been going too well. When I eat healthier and less my sugar levels are so much better, although lows tend to happen so much more often though.
Once again, I just want to thank everybody who does read my blog, it makes me feel like my voice is finally being heard.

I refuse to talk politics on my blog. Well, maybe if I started another one about politics then I could go on into more detail about what I want to get out today. As I watched the CNN-YouTube debate last night, I was happy to see so many questions about diabetes. As with the
ADA, I strongly live by the “Cure, Care, Commitment†slogan.Â
There were questions asked about health insurance for all citizens, and all the candidates say the same thing, that everyone should be covered under a national plan. I will not go into the politics and personal views behind all of this, which is not needed to fight this cause.Â
What we do need is more of what was going on last night, real people asking real questions about real problems. The more voices that are heard, and more horrible stories that are talked about in a national setting, the more progress we can get. The fight over stem cell research is absurd. For it, against it, don’t know anything about it, no matter where on the fence you stand, research it. There are two main research possibilities, embryonic and adult. If the fight for one of them isn’t working, then maybe we need to fight for something that we can win.Â
Write a letter, make a phone call, and put pressure on your local representative to do something. You will have a greater chance of getting something done by writing to your local rep then you will by writing to the state senate’s office. All the school walks and bike rides and everything that the ADA and JDRF offers, it is still not enough.Â
There needs to be a plan to action, but more importantly we need to know what our goals are. Of course everyone’s goal is to find a cure for diabetes, but as the old cliché goes, “You must walk before you can run.â€Â We need step by step goals in order to get the main goal. Donating money can be the first part. Join me in my fight to help cure the disease. But just donating money is not enough. That’s showing that you care, but we need more of a commitment in order to win this battle. Step Up, Step Out, Walk, Ride, do whatever you can to find a cure for this disease.Â
